From Village Concerts to Festivals

In 2007, school friends Jan Gorkow, known as "Monchi," Christoph Sell, Jacobus North, Max Bobzin, Kai Irrgang, and Olaf Ney founded their band Feine Sahne Fischfilet in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Guided by political events, confrontations with neo-Nazis at concerts, and the football scene of Hansa Rostock, the band developed into a bastion against the far right. Their albums SCHEITERN & VERSTEHEN and BLEIBEN ODER GEHEN address societal and state criticism. With their song "Wut," the band advocates for asylum seekers and challenges deportation policies. Today, Feine Sahne Fischfilet is an indispensable part of numerous festivals such as Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, Vainstream, and Highfield.

Music with a Clear Message Against the Far Right

For their political activism, the band receives a lot of criticism, especially in the media. In 2011, the band was even mentioned in a constitutional protection report by the state of Mecklenburg and classified as left-wing extremist. The band filed a legal request against this mention, which was rejected in 2013. Under the motto #wirsindmehr, a free concert was held in September 2018 in response to the riots at the city festival in Chemnitz. Alongside Feine Sahne Fischfilet, Kraftklub, K.I.Z, and Die Toten Hosen performed, setting a sign against right-wing populism and racist agitation with 65,000 participants.
