Admittedly, the story of how the gang got their name sounds quite unusual: Apparently, the members preferred to eat exotic meat in a restaurant - including antelope. And so, since their founding in 2009, the elegant horn-bearer has adorned not only their album covers but also Antilopen Gang merch. The guys from Aachen and Düsseldorf became especially known through their internet hit "Fick Die Uni." But as playful and ironic as the track and other releases from albums like AVERSION (2014) sound, in 2013 a severe stroke of fate struck the band and fans with deep sorrow: Crew member "NMZS" (Jakob Wich) took his own life at the age of 28. The diagnosis: severe depression. The Antilopen Gang recovered from the shock and shortly after announced on their website: "Jakob is and will remain irreplaceable, but in accordance with his and our wish, we will continue as Antilopen Gang." And in 2017, the band wrote the next chapter of their history: Two years after AVERSION, the new album ANARCHIE UND ALLTAG was released on January 20th.
