The bird lying on its back with its claws in the air makes Atticus shirts and sweaters recognizable from a distance - but what’s the story behind the memorable logo?
The name "Atticus Clothing" comes partly from the titular character in the literary classic "To Kill a Mockingbird" by 1960, and partly from the Greek rhetorician Herodes Atticus, who invested his wealth in supporting the arts, including music. And that fits perfectly. In 2001, Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus (both from Blink-182) founded the brand along with their childhood friend Dylan Anderson as a music-inspired streetwear brand. Over the next few years, they supported musicians like Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, and Coheed and Cambria with their "Draggin The Lake Compilation" CDs. Especially popular from the Atticus range: the Punk, Rock, Metal & Beer Shirt!
