Hopefully, this year without pouring rain and entry stops: Wacken Open Air 2024 is just around the corner! Get all the latest info about bands, running order, and the cashless system here.
It's almost time again: in two weeks, the Wacken Open Air 2024 kicks off. The festival starts on July 31st on the Holy Grounds of Heavy Metal, and you can have a great time until August 3rd: cheering for bands, enjoying the camping vibe, and catching up with old friends. Despite heavy rain and entry stops last year, the community is as excited as ever for the spectacle. How could it be any different? W:O:A 2024 has long been sold out. But here and there, you might still snag a ticket (link below), and you can start your preparations. We have all the relevant information for you here!
Where Can You Still Get Tickets?
Even though tickets sold out incredibly fast again, you might still be lucky. All the information for the ticket exchange has been compiled on the official festival website. If you have a ticket to sell or are looking for one, you can register there and be sure that everything is entirely legal. Here’s the info.
Program From Morning To Night
With seven different stages, you can never get bored at W:O:A. There’s always a program for every taste, heavy bands, comedy, interviews, late-night shows, and much more! The lineup is complete, and the running order has already been posted online.
Regarding headliners, all genre tastes will be catered to. Classic Hard Rock from the Scorpions on Thursday, Nu-Metal from Korn on Friday, Nordic Death Metal from Amon Amarth on Saturday... Additionally, there will be another stunning show with many stars from the Metal world by Avantasia on Friday for all fans of Tobias Sammet's opera project. On the same evening, Gene Simmons from Kiss and one of the most famous Power Metal bands, Blind Guardian, will be on the main stages! The Metalcore highlight Architects will be there for you on Saturday.
And that’s just the tip of the long list of bands, as many other Rock and Metal genres are represented. Besides the main stages, the Faster and the Louder Stage, well-known bands like Equilibrium will be on the Wackinger Stage (the stage's opening, of course, falls to the Wacken Firefighters as it does every year), the young post-hardcore group Future Palace from Germany will honor the W:E:T Stage, and on the Wasteland Stage, Mister Misery will perform - all this and many, many more!
The Journey To The Holy Ground: Arrival
Arrival at the festival is generally possible by car, camper, motorhome, public transport, and so on. Three different routes to the site will be announced in advance for the festival. You can choose the one that makes the most sense for you. Once the first signs appear on your route, you should follow the festival signage instead of your GPS. The signage is equipped with different symbols for each of the three routes. Additionally, guides will be in place near the site to direct you to the various camping areas and help you out.
Cashless System: Payment At The Festival
No more cash. The entire festival does no longer accept cash, and instead, the cashless system is implemented. This means you no longer need to withdraw a large amount of money from an ATM beforehand and carry it around. Annoying change is a thing of the past, and theft is also ruled out. But how does it work entirely without cash?
Your festival wristband will have a chip that allows you to pay at all the stands on the site. You can easily top up this chip with credit online in advance or on-site at the top-up stations (using a debit or credit card). And don’t worry, if you have any credit left on your chip at the end, you can have it refunded.
The Wacken App
Do you already know the W:O:A app? It is free and available for both iOS and Android, keeping you up to date with Wacken news and information all year round, not just for a few days during the festival.
One of the most practical features: the running order is easily accessible and always at hand. But also, the quick push notifications for important news during the festival are a huge advantage of the app. If you want to have all the information about Wacken at a glance, then the app is the right choice for you!
We wish you a lot of fun headbanging and don’t forget your rubber boots!
