Love songs can be found everywhere, even in Heavy Metal and Rock 'n' Roll. These are our Top 7!

Among the love songs in the Metal universe, there are a few classics that everyone must know. Naturally, they belong on our Top 7 list as well. Maybe your personal favorite for a romantic date is also included!

1. Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

Did you expect that "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica almost didn't make it onto the Black Album? Nevertheless, the song is now over 30 years old, but will never really get old. James Hetfield's heartbreak found the perfect outlet here. Some may already be tired of it, but it is undisputedly one of the best ballads in Metal history!

"Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words, I don't just say
And nothing else matters"

2. Iron Maiden - When The Wild Wind Blows

It's the last track on Iron Maiden's 2010 album The Final Frontier, their 15th album. The song was the only one on the record solely written by bassist Steve Harris and is one of the longer and more complex ones on the album. However, Iron Maiden is known for their long musical pieces, so "When The Wild Wind Blows" at 11 minutes doesn't even come close to their longest song. In this case, it's not a classic love ballad but a gripping story about a couple, packed in typical Iron Maiden rock sound.

"Remember times they had they flash right through his mind
Left behind
Of a lifetime spent together long ago
'Will be gone"

3. Guns N’ Roses - Sweet Child O’ Mine

One of Guns N’ Roses' most popular songs ever; with its catchy intro, you can't stop listening. The feeling of sentimentality grows stronger as you read the lyrics. One of many strong hits on the album Appetite for Destruction, but definitely the love song that sticks with you the longest.

"She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories"

4. Scorpions - Still Loving You

"Still Loving You" is celebrating its 40th birthday in 2024. The love anthem comes from the 1984 album Love at First Sting. For the Scorpions, it remains one of the most successful and well-known tracks of their entire career - which is still ongoing!

"Love
Only love
Can bring back your love someday"

5. Amorphis - House of Sleep

Love can be felt right from the second song on Amorphis' album Eclipse. "House of Sleep" even became the first single of the album. Additionally, it was the first release with their then newly recruited singer Tomi Joutsen. His predecessor Pasi Koskinen left the band after nine years with Amorphis in 2004. There were mixed reviews about Joutsen's clean vocals, but he perfectly captures the vibe of this song!

"You don't know nothing yet
About the dreams I have
Sleep is a house for lovers"

6. Doro - Herzblut Version II

The Metal Queen is also part of this list. The ballad "Herzblut" from her album Fear No Evil (2009) brings some change to our playlist with German lyrics and Doro's unmistakable voice. It is actually the only German title on the entire tracklist - and the title (translates to "Lifeblood" or "Heart & Soul") already says everything important about the song!

"Werd ich immer alles geben
Und ich gebe dir mein Leben
...Mein Herzblut”

7. GWAR - Hate Love Songs

Not into love songs and all that romantic stuff? We couldn't help but include "Hate Love Songs" by GWAR here as well. It's still a love song, in its own way. By the way, it's been a while since this album Carnival of Chaos was released in 1997!

"I hate love songs and I hate lovers
I hate everything that I can't have so I hate you"
