This Thursday on Amazon Prime, the eagerly anticipated series based on the legendary video game series, Fallout, debuts. Here are the key details for you:
If you were hoping that the Amazon series would adapt the plot of the games, unfortunately, we have to disappoint you. Todd Howard, the head of Bethesda, had already made it clear that the series would tell new stories that are different from those of the games. Let's take a look at what the Fallout series is really about.
What is the Amazon Fallout Series About?
Like the games, the series takes us into a post-apocalyptic world, 200 years after a nuclear catastrophe. Parts of humanity were forced to live in underground bunkers, known as Vaults, due to a nuclear war. The series focuses on Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, a resident who is forced to leave the safety of her Vault and traverse the apocalyptic wasteland of Los Angeles. There, she encounters monsters, mutants, and other survivors, including the fighter Maximus (Aaron Moten), who belongs to the “Brotherhood of Steel” group, and The Ghoul, an unpleasant mutant who resembles Red Skull from Captain America in appearance.
In an interview with IGN Magazine, director Jonathan Nolan revealed an interesting detail. It turns out we can expect several excursions into Lucy's nuclear bunker to show how the daily life of the remaining residents proceeds in her absence. This aspect was unfortunately barely touched upon in the Fallout games and should provide us with new and interesting insights into the world of the RPG franchise.
