It was back in 1980 when the band called it quits - Regardless Led Zeppelin merch still remains part of every hard rock fan's collection.
Band history: Led Zeppelin
Jimmy Page, John Bonham, John Paul Jones and Robert Plant formed Led Zeppelin in 1968. After their first shows the group recorded their self-titled debut in only 30 hours (yep, believe it) It was on this release that would later become one of the classics of their genre: Containing a wild mix of hard rock, folk and blues elements. The production of the record costed the band around £1800 but made a staggering £3,5 million in the following years. After LED ZEPPELIN II (1969) and LED ZEPPELIN III (1970) they later released a record without any title that later became known as LED ZEPPELIN IV. On that particular record was the world famous 'Stairway to heaven'. Despite sold out tours and other successful records, the Led Zeppelin era ended back in 1980, when drummer John Bonham was sadly found dead at his home. A little later the remaining band members announced that they wouldn't continue without him. Finally in 2007 they were seen back on stage together to perform a charity show for the late Ahmet Ertegün, who discovered the band back in the day. Within just a short time more than 20 million people registered to be part of the ticket raffle. So whether they're an active band or not it's fair to say the love in the Zeppelin fandom will never fade.
