Pop-punk meets Disney songs: This year, we will enjoy a full album of reimagined Disney classics! Simple Plan has already delivered the first cover.

A Whole New Sound - that's the name of the new Disney album featuring a range of Pop-Punk and Rock artists. It’s set to be released later in 2024, and you can already listen to the first song. The famous classic “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” from “The Lion King,” originally sung by Sir Elton John, has been covered by Simple Plan for the album!

Disney writes:

“Mickey & Friends introduce A Whole New Sound, an album featuring a selection of Disney’s greatest hits covered by iconic alternative, rock and pop-punk bands. Join Mickey & his friends as they explore their interests in fun new ways.”

Simple Plan also shared their thoughts.

“We wanted to honor Sir Elton John’s original version while bringing our own style to it, making it fun and energetic. [...] We grew up with Disney movies and now get to enjoy them with our own kids. It’s amazing to be invited to be a part of this album.”

Surely, they are not the only ones excited to hear these childhood songs in a new style. It’s sure to bring back nostalgic feelings.

When Is The Album Coming Out?

Unfortunately, a specific release date has not been announced yet. We remain eagerly awaiting more details, including the tracklist and the involved bands! Maybe your favorite pop-punk artist will be featured as well.

Update From 31.07.2024 - Next Single Is Out!

The next single has now been released: The band Magnolia has taken on the song "I2I" from "A Goofy Movie" from 1995.

"'I2I' is an important part of Black history and inspired all of us as kids to make music. The song's message, that we all come together, is something we all stand for," said the band about their decision to give the hit a new spin.

According to Tim Pennoyer, responsible for brand marketing at Disney, "'I2I' was the most requested Disney song by fans on social media to be covered next."
