The poltergeist Beetlejuice returns to theaters in 2024: Tim Burton's sequel to the 1988 horror comedy has received a new trailer featuring both old and new stars and plenty of fun.
It's been almost forty years since the master of quirky, witty horror - Tim Burton - presented us with the first part of "Beetlejuice". The film, which was released in 1988, featured Michael Keaton as the poltergeist, and now both the character and the actor are returning to the film world. And he's not the only one making a comeback. More on that below. First things first: The movie is nearing its release date, set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
Tim Burton At Work Again
He is one of the most renowned directors and producers in the film world, known for his standout works. Time and again, he immerses his audience in fascinating and dark horror worlds, only to lighten the mood with his unique humor. Stop-motion films like "Corpse Bride" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" stick in the mind and have a huge global fan base. Live-action horror comedies like "Sleepy Hollow" and "Sweeney Todd" add to his repertoire, along with imaginative stories like "Alice in Wonderland" (2010). He has also brought visions like "Batman" (1989) and "Planet of the Apes" to life.
Now, the genius finally delivers the long-awaited part two of "Beetlejuice." As is common with Burton, he brings many old friends and long-time creative partners to the team. Danny Elfman, for example, is again in charge of the music, and several actors are returning to their old roles.
Old And New Stars
As mentioned above, Michael Keaton (Batman, The Flash) reprises his role as Beetlejuice, as shown in the first trailer. Winona Ryder (Stranger Things, Edward Scissorhands) also returns as Lydia Deetz, this time with her daughter Astrid, played by Wednesday star Jenna Ortega. Catherine O'Hara returns as Delia Deetz as well.
