Avenged Sevenfold mark their 25th anniversary with something truly unique: the band is launching a digital museum, exclusively available in the video game Fortnite. As part of the Fortnite Festival event, their tracks "Nightmare" and "Hail to the King" have been added to the game to celebrate the milestone.
Even though you don’t have to be a gamer to enjoy the museum, you’ll still need to download Fortnite. Once in the game, you can explore a virtual gallery showcasing different eras of the band’s history through artwork and special content. There are also plenty of hidden Easter eggs to discover.
For die-hard fans, this project won’t come as a surprise. In recent years, Avenged Sevenfold has increasingly embraced digital formats, including a Web3 fan club that offers exclusive benefits like access to special shows for members.
The band reflects on the museum and anniversary:
“25 years have absolutely flown by. We wanted to do something to mark the occasion of our vast history by not just looking backwards but also forward. We started throwing around the idea of a gallery or museum of sorts to display art and eras of the band, but it was important to us to reach more people virtually. With “The Museum”, fans are able to control their own narrative as well as unlock hidden meanings, recordings and easter eggs. This project quickly got larger and larger as we worked with our friend Ryan McKinnon over the last year. What we have now is basically a fully virtual gallery, experience and escape room. We hope you enjoy taking a trip down memory lane with us.”
Avenged Sevenfold invites fans to explore the museum themselves and even create “guides” that the band may publish.
