What exactly is WGT?

WGT offers enthusiasts of the dark scene a chance to gather and celebrate music, art, and community events like the Victorian Picnic. The lineup typically includes bands from genres such as Dark Wave, Dark Rock, Post Punk, and EBM, among other sub-genres of the dark scene. Events are spread throughout the city—from the WGT Market Hall at agra Messepark to clubs in the downtown area and the Victorian Picnic at Clara-Zetkin-Park.

WGT 2023 – Lineup

This year’s festival lineup includes well-known bands from the scene like the German bands Diary Of Dreams and Das Ich. The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest participants for Germany, the Dark-Rock band Lord Of The Lost, will also perform, marking their first show post-ESC final in Liverpool!

Beyond music, there's also humor on the agenda, with comedian Lisa Eckert performing on May 28th. Thriller author Sebastian Fitzek will also make an appearance on the same day.

Regular guest and host, forensic biologist Dr. Mark Benecke, will once again enrich the festival with his lectures, continuing his history of engaging presentations at WGT and the Amphi Festival.

What else is there to see?

Boredom is not an option at Wave Gotik Treffen. Those needing a break from the festivities and trade hall can wander the medieval market at Moritzbastei or the Pagan Village. Nature lovers might enjoy exploring Leipzig’s cemeteries, including the expansive 78-hectare Südfriedhof near the Monument to the Battle of the Nations. Even galleries, museums, and bookstores around the city participate in WGT events!
