Unfortunately, Sum 41 had to deliver sad news to their Australian fans: vocalist and guitarist Deryck Whibley is currently unable to perform due to a bout of pneumonia, leading the band to cancel their planned farewell tour dates in Australia. In their heartfelt statement, they shared:
"It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce our 2024 Australian tour is unable to proceed. We were beyond excited to deliver this tour from December 4 - December 12, and connect with our Aussie fans once more. Now that we're here though, and under the guidance and direction of multiple Australian doctors, it's clear that Deryck is too unwell to perform. We understand and appreciate your disappointment - we're gutted too.
The good news is Good Things Festival is still going ahead in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this weekend with an incredible line-up of local and international acts. We can't be there, but get along for us and have the best time."
Electric Callboy Team Up With Sum 41’s Frank Zummo
Electric Callboy are also in the middle of a major tour, and they’ve faced their own health-related challenges at the drums. Their drummer, David Friedrich, had to return to Germany to recover. Luckily, Sum 41’s Frank Zummo is stepping in!
Electric Callboy shared their gratitude and updates via an Instagram video:
"Sometimes things on tour don’t go as planned, but you try to make the best of it. Unfortunately, or drummer, David Friedrich, had to return home to Germany due to illness, but we will now be joined by @sum41 very own @frankzummo for the remaining Good Things Festival dates! See you on Stage 2 at 7:30pm!"
