Nicko McBrain has spent more than 40 years as the drummer for Iron Maiden. Leaving the band after such a long and legendary journey was undoubtedly not an easy decision. However, Saturday’s concert in São Paulo, Brazil, marked his final performance, and Iron Maiden have already announced a new drummer for their future tours.
Nicko McBrain shared a detailed statement about his decision, which was posted by the band on social media:
"After much consideration, it is with both sorrow and joy, I announce my decision to take a step back from the grind of the extensive touring lifestyle. Today, Saturday, December 7th, Sao Paulo will be my final gig with Iron Maiden. I wish the band much success moving forward."
New Drummer Joins The Tour
Iron Maiden has already announced on their website that Simon Dawson will take over the drums for their upcoming live shows. Fans may recognize him from the British Lion project with Steve Harris.
