Bring Me The Horizon released their new album POST HUMAN: NeX GEn this year, and naturally, we’re all curious about what’s next for the band. Oli Sykes teased some exciting possibilities, though nothing has been confirmed yet. What’s clear is that there are plenty of ideas and new music already floating aorund.
NeX GEn: Director’s Cut
In an interview with Kerrang!, Oli Sykes mentioned the possibility of a Director’s Cut edition of POST HUMAN: NeX GEn. He also revealed that many songs were written for the album, some of which might be released in the near future. However, no timeline has been set, as Oli emphasized he doesn’t want to create unnecessary pressure. No promises for now!
“We wrote so much for NeX GEn, there’s so many cool songs that are kicking about, and I think the world would love to hear them. I would love to get out maybe a ‘director’s cut’ version of the record or something. But I’m trying to put less pressure on myself, and not promise anything!
After the last record it felt like people were gonna start hunting me down and taking me for ransom. But I’m sure there’ll be new music and concerts and all that next year.”
Update: The Band Plans An Extended Break
Bring Me The Horizon were recently announced as headliners for the Reading & Leeds Festival. These will be their only UK shows in 2025! If you want to experience the songs from this BMTH era live one last time, this festival, along with Rock am Ring 2025, will be your chance - because, according to an interview with Oli Sykes by NME, the band will be taking a well-deserved break afterwards.
"These will be our only shows in the UK next year, and our final shows before we go away for maybe quite some time. This is will be the conclusion of the ‘Nex Gen’ run for sure."
"We need time to recharge our batteries and have that time away, because we haven’t. The last time we stopped was when we were forced to for lockdown. Even then, we were still going and making stuff. It doesn’t feel like the band has had a significant amount of time off. It’s going to get to a point where it starts to effect the band and its creativity."
