Melodic Hardcore. Blood. Sweat. Tears. Perhaps the most energetic, fastest, and most emotional style of the Core genre, it is especially popular among scene enthusiasts. Extremely melodic guitar riffs combine with up-beat drums and furious screams. Political and personal themes play an equally important role in the lyrics. Melodic Hardcore - How It All Began
The initiators of Melodic Hardcore are considered to be 80s Hardcore Punk bands like Bad Religion, NOFX, or Descendents, who mixed a strong melodic component into their form of Hardcore Punk but still mainly relied on clean vocals. Influenced by this, Rise Against was founded in 1998, one of the most successful combos in genre history to this day. Their 2006 album THE SUFFERER & THE WITNESS is considered by many fans to be their musical career highlight. After that, the band gradually moved away from Melodic Hardcore. Following this came bands like Stick To Your Guns, Counterparts, and The Ghost Inside, which established harder and more metallic variants of Melodic Hardcore and increasingly used breakdowns. Today's Melodic Hardcore is very diverse. Bands like Beartooth focus on the roots of Melodic Hardcore in their songwriting, presenting a classic sound in a modern guise.
