Almost three years have passed since the South Korean survival thriller Squid Game took over our screens. Now, Netflix has finally announced the premiere date for the second season: December 26, 2024. And that's not all – a third season is planned for 2025, which will mark the series finale.
Director, screenwriter, and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk shared a letter to all Squid Game fans along with the release of a teaser for Season 2, in which he promises that the team "has done its best to ensure that 'Squid Game' continues to offer an exciting ride."
Hwang expresses himself in his letter as follows:
"On the first day of filming Season 2, I thought, 'Wow, I can't believe this is all coming back to life.' It felt almost surreal. I wonder how it will feel for you to dive back into 'Squid Game' after three years."
He adds: "I am looking forward to seeing how the innovative elements we have integrated into 'Squid Game' will grow and bear fruit until the end of the story."
