Although Sleep Token themselves haven’t made any announcements about a new album, the founder of the Download Festival dropped a major hint about when we can expect new music from the band.
Two days ago, England’s Download Festival revealed a large portion of its line-up, including the headliners. Alongside Green Day and Korn, Sleep Token is set to headline in 2025. While the Sleep Token fanbase is thrilled, some other festivalgoers weren’t as enthusiastic about the decision. Responding to the debate, Download Festival founder Andy Copping explained his reasoning in a detailed interview, which also included this key revelation:
"We're already on album number three and album number four should be out by the time Download comes around. It's going to be a meteoric rise for them across the globe, not just the UK."
Sleep Token’s third album, Take Me Back to Eden, released in 2023, marked their breakthrough. It sparked viral success on TikTok, dominated Spotify charts for months, and resulted in sold-out shows worldwide. The ongoing hype only reinforces Andy Copping’s decision to place Sleep Token in the headliner spot so early in their career.
“It was seeing their meteoric rise over the last two years that made me think, ‘This is a band that deserves to be elevated’. They’ve got a sold-out arena tour in a couple of weeks which we already know will be a sight to behold.”
“I think it’s important for the festival to bring new bands through to headline. Back in the day, I did it with Slipknot. I did it with Avenged Sevenfold and Biffy Clyro. In 2023 we did it with Bring Me The Horizon. Now, every one of those bands across the world is perceived as a festival headliner,"
This decision suggests we may see Sleep Token headline more festivals in the future, alongside the release of new music.
