Kerry King On The New Song
King has a lot to say about the creation and background of his track "Residue". According to this, you can expect a lot of fire and pyrotechnics, which will certainly be used on a future tour.
"I come from a great fire dynasty, and my music works with fire," says Kerry. "I've always written horror-themed music, so it made sense to incorporate fire into the first video where you can see the whole band, which I think is just great. I think fire and the devil go together, and I'm used to talking about the devil..."
The video was shot in collaboration with director Jim Louvau, who has worked with artists including Sebastian Bach (ex Skid Row) and also regularly has musicians such as Alice Cooper and Taylor Swift in front of his lens. He adds:
"Pyrotechnics and Kerry King are obviously a good match and seemed to fit like a glove, so Tony and I wanted to create something that was familiar but also new and exciting."
By Tony, he means Tony Aguilera, the second creative mind behind the video. Producer Josh Wilbur also says a few words about working with Kerry King:
"He never comes across as an idiot or a bad guy. But he knows exactly what he wants. He doesn't beat about the bush. He says, 'I don't want to do this, but this is what I want to do.' Very direct, but it comes from a place of confidence and not anything else. I've really enjoyed working with Kerry."
