This article is spoiler-free!
Gege Akutami, the mangaka of Jujutsu Kaisen, published the final part of the manga series with Chapter 271 on September 30th. The story has now concluded after exactly 6 years: it all began in 2018 with Volume 1. Even though the series quickly gained popularity back then, it wasn’t yet clear that this manga would become one of the most popular of our time and that the accompanying anime would even set a world record.
We warmly congratulate Gege Akutami on the success, even though all fans had to endure much suffering throughout this story...
Comment From Gege Akutami
Gege Akutami thanked his fans at the conclusion of the manga with the words:
“We’ve reached the end. Thank you all for your support! I’ll keep doing my best in my future works!”
An illustration of Yuji and his friends was also shared along with this message:
The Overwhelming Success Of Jujutsu Kaisen
By the summer of 2023, over 80 million copies of the manga series had already been sold, and now there are new success numbers. The Japanese publisher Shueisha reports that a new milestone has been reached with over 100 million copies of Jujutsu Kaisen in circulation!
It’s not just the printed version of the story that is receiving so much attention. The anime, produced by MAPPA and running since 2020, has also captured the hearts of anime fans worldwide. This year, the series even made it into the Guinness Book of Records. It was crowned the "most popular anime" of 2023. Even popular animes like “Attack On Titan” and “One Piece” were overshadowed! No surprise, given the strong animation and action-packed storyline from Gege.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3
Although the manga is finished, we can still look forward to the end of the anime! However, those waiting for the final episodes will have to be patient, as Season 3 was confirmed in 2023 but won’t be released until 2025 at the earliest, possibly even 2026.
Even though this is a farewell, the release of Chapter 271 doesn’t necessarily mark the end of the entire Jujutsu Kaisen era. However, we’re excited to see what Gege Akutami delivers next!
