Later this year, James Hetfield will shine as an actor in the new Western "The Thicket." Tubi Films recently posted the first images!
All Metallica fans can look forward to the new Western "The Thicket" in a few months because none other than James Hetfield, the singer of the gigantic Metal band, will be taking on a role in this movie. And what could be more fitting than the character of a sheriff? Admittedly, we don't know exactly how much screen time he will have, but the first images from social media give us a glimpse. Tubi Films have already shared some photos from the production.

Peter Dinklage became a household name worldwide with his role as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, captivating audiences globally. More recently, he appeared in the Hunger Games prequel "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes." In "The Thicket," he will play a bounty hunter named Shorty. Not only is this one of the two main roles (alongside Juliette Lewis), but Peter Dinklage is also one of the film’s producers. He secured this film project years ago, and now it’s finally coming to fruition. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Joe R. Lansdale, published in 2013. The director is Elliott Lester, who is also known in the music world. His notable works include music videos for top artists like Avril Lavigne and Thirty Seconds To Mars. He was the one who insisted on having James Hetfield in this film.
"One morning I woke up with the clear vision that James had to be in this film. James Hetfield, a rock god, embodies such raw poetry that perfectly matches the character we envisioned."
But getting to the Metallica singer was a challenge. All contacts were utilized to reach Hetfield before he finally agreed.
"He revealed that he had always wanted to do a dark Western. James was just incredible. He worked hard, diligently, and embraced his role with a passion that brought a unique intensity to the film."
So we have every reason to look forward to his performance!
Film Release: When Does It Start?
So far, the release date is only known for the USA: From September 6, there will be another Western to marvel at in cinemas. Let’s hope we get a release date for the rest of us and a trailer soon!
Update from July 25, 2024 - First Trailer Released
The first trailer for "The Thicket" has finally been released. This trailer promises a dark Western film with plenty of action, shootouts, and period-appropriate dark humor.
As you can see in the trailer, James Hetfield will also play a significant role. In one scene, he is involved in a shootout, and in another, he wanders through snowy forests, smoking a cigar and embodying the tough guy persona.
