Did April 1st get you this year? Many bands have gotten creative with their pranks. Here are our highlights!

For those who didn't have the date in mind, social media was a dangerous place yesterday. The prank posts were flying, some more obvious than others. We've gathered a few April Fools' jokes from the Metal world here!

Megadeth

For Megadeth, the band members' hair was the center of attention. Have you always wanted to get the perfect headbanging hairstyle? With the Megadeth Wigs, it could have been possible! The band offered limited wigs in the style of all four members for sale yesterday. Along with the words:

"We're now selling 'Megadeth Wigs!' 🤘 Get yours today and get ready to thrash with us on tour! Just a joke… but would you actually buy one…? 💀 #AprilFoolsDay"

As you can see, a highly professional post:

Trivium

The culprit behind the post in this case is Matt Heafy of Trivium, who posted the following words on his Instagram account:

I can’t believe I’m writing this.

The three of us have been through a lot. And it’s obvious that one of the consistent issues since 1999 is not being able to keep a lineup the way we need.

We’re trying this a different way. I don’t want your perspective - but we’re having an open call:

Who of you can actually pull off the drums for our band?

You have till Jan 2025 to learn this set (unlike SOME people) - serious inquiries only.

Of course, this is all just a joke and Alex Bent, who has been drumming for Trivum since 2017, is still in the band.

August Burns Red

August Burns Red announced a new album at the beginning of the month: Homer. Completely inspired by The Simpsons, they presented the album cover and tracklist right away, including hits like "Okily Dokaly" and "Go Banana!". We can imagine that many would have been excited about such an album.

Rivers Of Nihil

Here too, there was a new album cover for the followers. Rivers of Nihil dropped the new title Where Als Know My Name, complete with Al Bundy on the cover. The album is set to be released in the fall…

Lord of the Lost

In 2023, Lord of the Lost represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest - and according to their post yesterday, they are back again this year. This year's participant for Germany, ISAAK, canceled at short notice, so Lord of the Lost will go to ESC for the second time in a row, which will take place in Malmö, Sweden in 2024. The guys want to enter with the song "Dark Rainbow". Whether that track will ever exist is still a mystery. A successful April Fools' joke, but fans still want to hear that song now.

Riot Fest

The Riot Fest in the USA didn't really express their prank through a post. Instead, there's a link with the text "Has the Riot Fest lineup been released yet?"

If you click on this link, you'll get a simple answer: No.

After The Burial

In faithful reference to their band name, After The Burial announced a whole range of new products on social media yesterday: The new spring collection includes a pine coffin with ATB logo, an antique gold incense burner, incense sticks, a gold chalice, along with an ATB Pinot Noir wine, bread wafers and a bottle of holy water. If you click through to their shop via the link provided, you can even witness the high demand because all products are already sold out. And that's despite the prices, with the coffin priced at $2,499.99 being the most expensive piece in the collection.
