Immortal is the only Lorna Shore album featuring vocalist CJ McCreery. With the sound of this record, the band moves further away from Deathcore and incorporates elements like orchestral arrangements. One could describe it as Lorna Shore's journey of self-discovery, as they wanted to be more than just a Deathcore band, according to their own statements. Adam De Micco considers the title track "Immortal" particularly challenging in the songwriting process. He also mentions "Obsession" and "Relentless Torment" as difficult songs that pushed the band out of their comfort zone.

In March 2021, Immortal was re-released as an instrumental album.
