Gamescom 2023 in Cologne is over and has once again given the gaming community some reasons to look forward to new releases. From August 21 to 25, thousands of gaming fans gathered in Cologne to explore the exhibition halls. The biggest announcements and reveals are presented in this article!
During the Gamescom Opening Night Live Show, many exciting new trailers were presented once again. Host Geoff Keighley presented numerous announcements within two hours and welcomed several guests on stage. Some very familiar titles were mentioned and game expansions and sequels were also revealed!
Starfield - Live Action
One of the guests was Todd Howard, the director of Starfield. After a new live action trailer was shown and the release of the game on September 6, 2023 was announced, he revealed some gameplay aspects to the audience. By the way, Early Access for the RPG starts today! The title was developed by Bethesda Game Studios in the USA for Windows and Xbox.
Assassin's Creed Mirage
The thirteenth part of the well-known Assassin's Creed game series was announced for October 5, 2023. The previous title, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, was released in 2020. At Gamescom, fans of the Ubisoft games could finally enjoy a new trailer. It shows Basim experiencing 9th century Baghdad in all its glory.
Tekken 8
After a long time of waiting, the release date for the eighth part of the fighting game Tekken has finally been released. It will launch on January 26, 2024 for PlayStation 5, XBox Series X & S and PC.
Call of Duty
Call of Duty revealed a glimpse of the gameplay in Modern Warfare 3. The developers have already announced that the new game will be released on November 10, 2023. More information will be available in the next few months, as the "CoD Next" event is planned for October 5. For people who are curious, there will also be first glimpses of the multiplayer there.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
With Phantom Liberty, a new expansion of Cyberpunk 2077 is coming on September 26, 2023. The new trailer promises proper action-adventure, a new area, numerous abilities and weapons that were not available before.
Mortal Kombat
Another fighting game title has announced new features: a trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 was shown at Gamescom. There will be four new characters available on September 14, 2023. General Shao and Sindel will be added to the character lineup, while Motaro and Shujinko will join as cameo fighters.
Little Nightmares
Those who already know the two previous games of the horror series will surely be thrilled about the announcement of a third part. The game is supposed to be released in 2024 and will even have a co-up mode this time. You can already see this aspect in the trailer. What's special is that Supermassive Studios has taken over the production of the game, after Tarsier Studios produced the first two parts.
Alan Wake
The second part of Alan Wake will be released on October 27, 2023. The developers personally released new information about this at Gamescom. It will definitely be exciting!
On top of that, the new fantasy open world RPG Crimson Desert was presented, but unfortunately no release date has been set yet. After almost seven years of waiting, horror fans will also be presented with Killing Floor 3, although an exact date has not yet been released. There was also something new to see for shooter fans - Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which will be released later this year.
There was also the opportunity to test the title Lords of the Fallen during the convention. The second part of the action RPG is scheduled for release this October, after the original game came out in 2014. For fans of Forza, there was an entire Forza Motorsport Theater with impressive showcases of new gameplay and action.
Followers of the anime game scene were wowed by Chinese game developer miHoYo. The popular open world game Genshin Impact recently got a new update featuring the new region Fontaine, which was presented in a trailer.
