There are plenty of games set in the Lord of the Rings universe, but they typically share one thing: they are generally based on fantasy action and adventure. However, Tales of the Shire is taking a different approach by focusing on the tranquil atmosphere of the Shire. This game is being developed by the Middle-earth experts at Weta Workshop in New Zealand: if anyone knows the design of this universe, it’s them. After all, they were involved in Peter Jackson's films and have enriched the works with their creative input! This project is being realized in partnership with the game publisher Private Division and is expected to be released in 2024.
What Is The Game About?
For a change, this game isn’t about fighting Orcs or defeating the darkness of Sauron. Instead, we find ourselves exclusively in the Shire and will focus on the cozy Hobbit lifestyle.
The publisher has only said about the content so far:
"Your cozy Hobbit life awaits you in 'Tales of the Shire.'"

Due to its cozy concept, the game is already being compared to big names like Nintendo's Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. Fans of these games can look forward to even more delightful content. We can’t wait to try it out ourselves. It will be available on both PC and consoles—though a specific release date has not yet been set. All that’s left to do is wait and maybe smoke a pipe!
