Slipknot have exciting news! For the 25th anniversary of their debut album, a very special edition will be released. This was recently revealed by Michael Shawn "Clown" Crahan, percussionist and founding member, in an interview with Metal Hammer.
Crahan, known as the "caretaker of the band," has preserved everything over the years – from recordings and test mixes to live show tapes and studio session footage. These previously unreleased treasures will be made accessible to you in the anniversary edition, offering an exclusive insight into the band's early days.
Crahan says:
“I’m the one who has kept everything over the years. All the DAT tapes from our first shows, all the video tapes from the studio sessions at SR Audio and Indigo Ranch. Even different test mixes that were never released but are great.”
He further explains:
“25 years ago, you wouldn’t have listened to those mixes, but now that ‘the golden egg has been laid’ and everyone knows what we’ve done, you won’t say, ‘This is better,’ but rather, ‘Wow, this is Slipknot from 25 years ago.’”
“There’s new artwork, photos from that time, so much punk rock music from board tapes, video documentation – it’s simply the best of everything that defines Slipknot,” Crahan adds.
Although the exact release date has not yet been set, this reissue will definitely be a highlight for all Maggots!
