After Tenacious D's tour ended abruptly this July due to controversial statements made by bandmate Kyle Gass, Jack Black has now spoken out again, giving hope that the band may return someday.
What Happened?
During a performance, Black asked Gass what he wished for his birthday. Gass responded that during the next assassination attempt on Donald Trump, they should not miss. The subsequent outcry was enormous, and Jack clearly distanced himself from these statements: "I would never endorse hate speech or political violence in any form." This clear stance garnered both approval and criticism.
The Future of Tenacious D
Jack Black (The Super Mario Bros. Movie, The Muppuets) now gives reason to hope that Tenacious D could continue. In an interview with "Variety," he expressed his deep connection to the band: "I love Tenacious D. It is probably my favorite project. You could call it my artwork, my baby." Regarding the band's future, he said, "We will come back when it feels right. We need to take a break. Everyone needs a break sometimes." Jack also emphasized the unbroken friendship within the band: "We are friends. That has not changed. These things sometimes take time."
Thus, when exactly Tenacious D will rock the stage again remains to be seen.
