The year is 2033 and the world has literally turned into a hell where only one thing matters: surviving. The Cordyceps fungus, which actually exists, has infected about 60 percent of humanity and turned it into zombie-like, man-eating creatures. We are in the world of The Last of Us, governments no longer exist and the civilization as we know it has completely collapsed. The story of The Last of Us follows the story of Joel, a smuggler from the quarantine zone, who is given a special assignment: He has to smuggle 14-year-old girl Ellie out of the quarantine zone to join the Fireflies in Salt Lake City. Ellie is immune and the Fireflies may be able to develop a cure with her help.
