There are news both on the game series and the popular TV series of "The Last Of Us". New ideas for a game have been shared, but we will have to settle for fewer episodes in Season 2 of the series.
Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment gave us a sequel to the popular game in 2020 with "The Last Of Us Part II". Since then, hopes for a third part have been high, but there have been no official confirmations yet. Instead, in 2023, we got an adaptation in the form of a live-action series, and now we are waiting for a continuation there as well! "The Last Of Us" Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2025. But there is both news and hope for all fans, so naturally we will share that with you.
Is Season 2 Shorter Than Expected?
The first season of "The Last Of Us" consists of nine episodes, so one would assume Season 2 would follow suit. However, there are unofficial reports suggesting that the sequel will have two episodes less. In this case, there would only be seven episodes of the post-apocalyptic horror drama that we eagerly await.
Whether these news will be confirmed later remains to be seen. Unfortunately, it will be at least another year before we can finally see the new episodes on the streaming platform Max. The storyline is based on Part 2 of "The Last Of Us" game series. This means that a third game must come soon if we want to see a third season as well!
Ideas For A New Game: Part 3
Fans of the games can now rightfully hope for a Part 3. This is due to statements made by Neil Druckmann, the Creative Director at game developer Naughty Dog. In a new documentary about Part 2, he also talked about new ideas for a third game. He mentions that the current games already have a good ending and therefore do not necessarily need a sequel to conclude the story. However, this does not mean that thoughts about Part 3 are not being considered.
"There is no story yet, but I have a concept. And in my eyes, it's just as exciting as Parts 1 and 2. It's completely its own thing and there is a common thread that connects all three games together. So it feels like there may be another chapter of this story to tell."
This sounds promising, but it is still not an official announcement. So keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned for updates!
