They are mentioned in the same breath as bands like Die Toten Hosen, and today they are one of the most successful punk/alternative bands in Germany - and even if you usually prefer breakdowns and death growls, you have to admit: The Beatsteaks are still one of the best (and funniest) live bands out there. This has been evident in countless shows and festival appearances they have performed since their formation in 1995. Their first album, 48/49 (named after the number of their Berlin rehearsal room), still contained several German songs, but by Launched (1999), frontman Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß was singing in English. With Smack Smash (2004), which includes the two Beatsteaks hits "Hand In Hand" and "I Don't Care As Long As You Sing," the Berliners positioned themselves in the German charts for the first time - Boombox (2011) and Beatsteaks (2014) later even reached number 1. And with their eighth album Yours (released on September 1, 2017) - a double album - the Beatsteaks aim for nothing less!
