Periphery Merch For Prog Rock Fans
Periphery are one of the most versatile bands out there. With a mixture of
progressive metal,
metalcore and
djent, the guys from Bethesda, Maryland, manage to create a unique mixture. Periphery have been storming the stages of the world since 2004 and are characterized by their deep 7-string guitars and 6-string bass.
A bumpy start with a lot of formation
In 2005, guitarist and drummer Misha ("Bulb") Mansoor founded the band Periphery by himself. He wrote the first songs and was active on YouTube and MySpace at the same time. With the songs available online for free download, the band quickly became popular to many metal fans.Periphery is not a band that has played in one line-up since the beginning:The many changes in personnel had a lasting effect on the band's musical direction. While Periphery were initially compared to
Meshuggah, the band went for more atmosphere, more melodic parts and developed their own style with the new formation. Their patience paid off: in 2010 the time had finally come and the first album PERIPHERY was released.
Periphery starts to take off
In 2010 the band was also on "The Trash and Burn Tour" with
Born Of Osiris and many other bands. A year later, the group announced they had parted ways with Alex Bois on guitar. He was first temporarily and then fully replaced by Mark Holcomb. He also helped out on the tour with
Dream Theater, who accompanied Periphery as support.Unfortunately, bassist Tom Murphy also left the band that year, with Adam "Nolly" Getgood taking over. After the second album PERIPHERY II: THIS TIME IT'S PERSONAL, the EP CLEAR followed in 2014, on which each band member composed a track and took over the direction of the song. That's why this little EP is a very exciting work by Periphery. The band released two 10-track and 7-track albums simultaneously in 2015, JUGGERNAUT ALPHA and JUGGERNAUT OMEGA. A year later the next album PERIPHERY III: SELECT DIFFICULTY was released. In 2017, Getgood left the band to focus on his career as a music producer. In 2018, the band nevertheless began work on the next album. In February 2019 the single "Blood Eagle" was released and in March "Garden In The Bones" followed, which was very well received by the community. The last album PERIPHERY IV: HAIL STAIN was released on March 1st, 2019.After three years of waiting we can finally got a new Periphery album: PERIPHERY V: DJENT IS NOT A GENRE in March 2023.
