It’s been another incredible year for new music. 2024 brought some real surprises - comebacks no one saw coming so soon or releases that, despite plenty of rumors, still managed to hit us right in the feels. From Linkin Park to The Cure, we’ve compiled a list of the year’s standout releases that we’d like to highlight - no rankings, just greatness. If you haven’t listened to these albums yet, it’s definitely worth diving in!
Linkin Park - From Zero
What an exciting ride it’s been - with rumors flying from all sides, a seemingly endless countdown, and one reveal after another. A performance with their new singer, Emily Armstrong, the announcement of a full tour, and, of course, their new album: From Zero. This comeback has undeniably been the biggest sensation in the rock world of 2024, and rightfully so. One of the tracks even became the new League of Legends anthem, landing a spot on the Arcane Season 2 soundtrack. Add to that shows announced with Sleep Token, Bad Omens, and Architects as support - it’s been hit after hit. Even though not everyone may embrace this new era of Linkin Park, From Zero is undoubtedly one of the best albums of the year!
Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: NeX GEn
We waited a long time for POST HUMAN: NeX GEn, with the release date unclear for quite a while. Many singles were already familiar, but in the end, the full album turned out to be an absolute hit. Even as the year comes to a close, the record is still on repeat without getting old - and now you can also play Bring Me The Horizon's new rhythm game. All we can say is that we’re ready for the next part of the POST HUMAN series to drop soon!
The Cure - Songs Of A Lost World
Another comeback that hit fans right in the feels this year. The Cure delivered Songs Of A Lost World, their first album since 4:13 Dream in 2008! A live album has already been announced to follow. The Cure hasn’t lost their touch after more than fifteen years - in fact, this album has skyrocketed in success. The music is just as emotional as “back then” and has been highly praised by longtime fans. Plus, it’s the perfect time of year for it, so make sure to add it to your playlist!
Knocked Loose - You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To
Knocked Loose didn’t just feature artists like Poppy and Chris Motionless from Motionless In White on their hardcore album You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To - they even managed to surpass the hyped pop icon Taylor Swift and her new album The Tortured Poets Department on Spotify’s Viral 50 with their track “Suffocate”! That’s quite an achievement in this scene. The same track was recently performed live on Jimmy Kimmel Live on TV. In truth, the entire album is outstanding, earning it a well-deserved spot on our Top Albums of 2024 list!
The Ghost Inside - Searching For Solace
The first album since their comeback with The Ghost Inside! Searching For Solace was released this April, followed by a European tour, although the U.S. tour was unfortunately canceled due to health reasons. Luckily, the music is here to stay, and Searching For Solace continues to be blasted at full volume!
Blink-182 - One More Time… Part 2
This year, One More Time… came back for, well, one more time! Part 2 was released in September, and teasers for the new music were cleverly shared during their U.S. tour at the merch van. Tracks like "All In My Head" and "One Night Stand" were already a hit there, and now, post-release, they’re perfect for rocking out to. The summer vibes might be missing a bit… but who says you can’t dance under the Christmas tree?
Imminence - The Black
It’s the fifth studio album by Imminence: The Black. Their signature style: metalcore with string elements. The album not only sounds incredible through your headphones but also shines live, as the band proved during their tour this fall. In winter 2025, they’ll take it to the next level with a string quartet and acoustic versions added to the mix. If you want to know all the songs by then, now’s the time to catch up on anything you’ve missed!
Thrown - Excessive Guilt
Thrown released their debut full-length album this year! After dropping their debut EP Extended Pain in 2022, Excessive Guilt followed in August - a killer album to kick off their career. Tracks like “on the verge”, “guilt,” and “backfire” are must-listens if hardcore and metalcore are your thing. For us, it's an undeniable must for the top albums of 2024.
Bad Omens - CONCRETE JUNGLE [THE OST]
Ultimately, for some people CONCRETE JUNGLE [THE OST] by Bad Omens might be "just" an album with plenty of remixes, live versions, and relatively few new tracks. However, it boasts an impressive lineup of cool collaborations and features. “V.A.N” with Poppy is a strong opening track, followed by “THE DRAIN” featuring HEALTH and SWARM. While not every track may resonate with everyone, the album is experimental and an absolute blast to listen to - from the lo-fi version of “Bad Decisions” to the creation of “ANYTHING > HUMAN” with Erra!
Fit For An Autopsy - The Nothing That Is
Pretty recently released by Fit For An Autopsy: The Nothing That Is. It’s their seventh studio album, and it’s an absolute must-listen for anyone who's in love with Deathcore. To get a taste, just check out the singles “Hostage” and “Savior Of None / Ashes Of All”. So yeah, here’s your chance to dive into the full album - enjoy!
