On May 12, 2023, fans were finally treated to the long-awaited release from The Legend of Zelda series. "Tears of the Kingdom" is the sequel to the highly successful and popular predecessor, "Breath of the Wild." Since the game has been available for the Nintendo Switch, fans have spent considerable time exploring its open-world setting. Let’s dive in to see if the game meets the high expectations.

Breath of the Wild 2
Like its predecessor, "Tears of the Kingdom" is a single-player game categorized under Open World, Action & Adventure.
There was considerable hype around "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" when it released in 2017, and fans were naturally eager for its sequel. "Tears of the Kingdom" retains many popular aspects of its predecessor; we return to the open-world setting of Hyrule and follow Link on quests to rescue Princess Zelda. Once again, the game challenges players to survive, solve puzzles, and utilize materials.
However, there are also several new features in gameplay and world exploration. This includes a building aspect, where various materials can be combined to create new inventions. The world itself has been expanded, and the new soundtrack is also gaining popularity. The main story, plus side quests, requires around 30 – 50 hours of gameplay. But for a thorough exploration of the game, you can expect to spend significantly more time!

Tears of the Kingdom – Early Figures and Opinions
Nintendo has already shared some reviews and official sales figures. The game's reviews are very positive, with game testers seemingly convinced. Globally, the game sold over 10 million copies in just the first few days after release.
Many fans had high expectations since the predecessor was a smash hit. Others, however, were skeptical about whether a game set in the same universe could offer true innovation. Comments on Instagram and Twitter, however, show that most players have embraced the new installment, with some even preferring it over the predecessor!

Of course, there are exceptions. Some criticism has been directed at the game's graphics. Here and there, there are indeed performance issues on the Switch, but improvements over the predecessor are noticeable. Others wished for different features in a sequel or miss features from "Breath of the Wild." Overall, however, the game is already highly praised by fans and a resounding success.
