Machine Gun Kelly seems to be listening to his fans. Several social media posts and statements from the musician suggest a name change! You can read about how it came about here.

Machine Gun Kelly - under this name, the American rapper, singer, and actor has been active for over ten years. In 2012, he released his first EP Half Naked & Almost Famous, and many successful albums followed. Then in 2020, there was a style change; suddenly he started making more pop-punk than hip-hop. The albums Tickets to My Downfall and Mainstream Sellout were received with mixed opinions by his fan base but still achieved huge success! But now it seems that the musician (whose real name is Colson Baker) is considering a name change. Various statements he made to photographers and social media posts indicate this.

Name Change Demanded By The Audience

It all started at one of his concerts. The comedic duo Chad and JT held up a sign that said, "Change your name!!!" At first, the musician only said that he didn't understand what they meant. But then he was informed about their reasons. Whether it was mainly meant as a prank or really serious is left open for now.

"We want you to change your name. We want you to take out the "Machine Gun" so we don't glorify machine guns. Just take out the "Machine Gun"!"

He asked his audience what they thought of it. Obviously, they were excited because he received loud applause in response. Since then, the musician seems to be really thinking about it. He was seen on the red carpet at the "GQ Men of the Year" event where he asked photographers to call him "Machine" instead of "Machine Gun." In his social media posts, he also writes his name in the description as "Machine" only. On X (formerly Twitter), he even changed his name.

Is There An Official Name Change?

Chad and JT are known for using comedy to raise awareness of social issues among their audience. They posted a video on their official YouTube channel, Chad and JT Go Deep, showing the confrontation with MGK. Although the video is titled "Machine Gun Kelly has officially changed his name to Machine," there has not yet been an official name change. His X and Instagram handles are still @machinegunkelly. There is also no official statement regarding a future name change. Anything is possible for now, so let's stay tuned!
