Mayhem Merch
Disturbing guitar riffs, spine-chilling screams, and relentless blast beats. The Black Metal legends Mayhem create an atmosphere of horror that is unparalleled in its authenticity, especially live. Alongside
Gorgoroth and
Darkthrone, the Norwegians are considered the
pioneers of black metal. Their legendary status is partly due to the dark tales surrounding former band members "Euronymous" and "Dead."

“Euronymous” and “Dead” - the Defining Shock Figures of Mayhem
When the band was
founded in 1984 in Norway, no one could have anticipated the shocking events that would unfold in the coming years. Initially, the group released a series of demos and EPs, quickly gaining national recognition in the scene despite the poor recording quality.
Singer “Dead” was particularly polarizing. Known for his psychological instability and penchant for self-mutilation and death obsession, he openly displayed these tendencies on stage. In 1991, he slit his wrists and took his own life with a shotgun.
Guitarist “Euronymous” found the dead frontman in the band's quarters and took some snapshots for the group’s future releases – a unique way to mourn, indeed. However, Euronymous himself met his end about two years later, stabbed to death by Burzum mastermind and temporary bassist Varg Vikernes. Interestingly, both the murderer and the victim are featured on the debut album "DE MYSTERIIS DOM SATHANAS," which was released in 1994 and is still celebrated as a milestone in the scene. After being dormant for some time, the band was revived by former members. Their first musical output was the 1997 EP "WOLFS LAIR ABYSS." Although the focus is now more on the music, Mayhem continues to shock:
Impaled pig heads as stage decorations and
crucifixion rituals involving band members are part of their live repertoire. While albums like "GRAND DECLARATION OF WAR" (2000), "CHIMAIRA" (2004), and "ORDO AD CHAO" explored new experimental paths, Mayhem returned to their classic Black Metal roots with "ESOTERIC WARFARE."
