Slayer: According To Kerry King, Future Shows Were Never Ruled Out

Slayer’s final tour was just in 2018/2019, so why are there already reunion shows? Kerry King reveals the answer.

With Slayer’s highly publicized final tour, fans were pretty certain: Slayer would no longer perform live. However, the band has now announced reunion shows for September 2024 at two festivals in America. What does this mean? Leaving aside the reunion hype, some fans aren’t too thrilled about it, as this was communicated differently. So, are Slayer going back on tour after all?

No, that’s not the case. Kerry King commented in an interview that while Slayer made it clear there would be no future tours, they never said they wouldn’t play at all anymore.

When asked about the situation, King said:

"So what we retired from was touring. We never said we were done playing. We said, 'This is our final tour', and I don't think three shows constitute a tour. So if you wanna get technical, I think we're in the ballpark of being truthful."

So, a few shows here and there are still on the table, but extensive tours are off the agenda. European shows are also not planned, although King doesn’t want to completely rule them out. Who knows what the future holds? Maybe we can look forward to some live recordings from Riot Fest or Louder Than Hell Festival?
