Paramore fans are in a frenzy. All websites and accounts of Paramore have been wiped clean and taken offline. However, the reasons for this are still unknown.
Since December 26th, the Paramore website has been unreachable, as well as their shop. They have deleted all their posts on social media. Even their server on Discord is no longer available. Only their YouTube channel seems to remain untouched. The fan community is speculating wildly about the reasons for this decision and have all sorts of theories ready.
No statement from the band
So far, there has been no official statement from the band members about the situation. Only today, a short announcement was posted in their Instagram story, in which they cancelled their upcoming performance on January 13th.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Paramore can no longer attend and perform at iHeartRadio ALTer EGO on January 13. The band apologizes for any inconvenience.”
Of course, alarm bells are ringing, as a band breakup is certainly not out of the question. In an interview, Paramore had already talked about their future. Since their contract with their previous label is now fulfilled, they could freely explore new paths or start new projects. However, they have not made any concrete plans public yet. Due to the cancellation of the event, we mainly hope that the band and all involved are doing well.
New Start Or Breakup?
Whether there will actually be a breakup is still unclear, of course. It's a matter of waiting and hoping for good news first. It's also possible that it's a restart. Whether that's a new band project or a new label; many possibilities are in question. So we'll keep you updated!
Update: 01.02.2024 // New Music from Paramore
Fortunately, we received a response to our questions fairly quickly. Paramore have not disbanded. Instead, they have already released a new song! The title "Burning Down the House" has been out for less than 24 hours and can be listened to with the official visualizer on YouTube. It is a track that will be part of a tribute album by A24 Music. The album, titled "Everyone's Getting Involved: A Stop Making Sense Tribute Album," will feature many other well-known artists. Primarily, of course, Paramore with the opening track - but you can also look forward to contributions from Miley Cyrus, Lorde, girl in red, and many more!
The tribute is dedicated to the American rock band Talking Heads, who formed in the 70s and disbanded in the early 90s. The title "Stop Making Sense" is inspired by their song "Girlfriend Is Better" from the 1983 album Speaking In Tongues, as this line from the lyrics was even used for the title of their 1984 documentary film.
