The American pop singer is known for famous hits like "Because of You" and "Since U Been Gone," but this time she tried her hand at a metal song. Listen to how it sounds here!

Kelly Clarkson has had her own talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, since 2019. In this show, there's a segment called "Kellyoke", where the singer performs various songs on stage. In the past, she has sung songs by artists like Post Malone, Miley Cyrus, and Billie Eilish. A few rock and metal tracks have also made it into the show, such as "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake and "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden. But now, she ventured into the realm of thrash metal with one of the genre's biggest bands: Metallica.

Where Did the Idea Come From?

Of course, many Metallica songs have been covered by artists from various genres throughout music history. But where did Kelly Clarkson draw her inspiration for this performance?

It seems that the decision was influenced by her conversation with actress Isla Fisher (known from The Great Gatsby and more) a while ago. When Fisher was a guest on Clarkson's talk show earlier this year, the two chatted about Metallica:

Clarkson: "I love that you love Metallica."

Fisher: "I know. I love Metallica."

Clarkson: "Now I'm rethinking my vinyl I gave you. I didn't know."

Fisher: "That's a little secret, okay?"

Clarkson: "Yeah, I love Metallica as well. And we should cover something Metallica."

Fisher: "Yeah, oh my gosh, you should. You should do 'Sad But True.' Your voice would be amazing."

Clarkson: "Okay, fine, done. Okay. 'Sad But True,' someone write it down."

And just like that, Metallica joins Kelly Clarkson's extensive karaoke repertoire. We can't wait to see what's next!
