Disney's new live action remakes never fail to surprise us each year. Following the recent remake of "The Little Mermaid," many more live action projects are already in the works. Discover which remakes are planned next and what we know so far!

Previous Disney Remakes

While many of Disney's remakes have been successful in the past, drawing crowds to theaters, the recent projects seem to be met with less enthusiasm. "Alice in Wonderland" from 2010, for example, charmed audiences with Tim Burton's signature style. "Beauty and the Beast" starring Emma Watson in 2017 shone through its cast and faithful rendition of all the original songs.

"The Lion King" from 2019, although not really a live action adaptation, attracted audiences with its realistic CGI lions, much like "The Jungle Book" from 2016. While these films are considered a new sensation by some, many fans of the originals are not impressed. However, favorites among the remakes include "Maleficent" from 2014 and "Mulan" from 2020, which is visually stunning.

Every time, we can look forward to each new remake with anticipation. There is curiosity about how childhood stories will be reimagined, but also criticism of the live action versions. In any case, we can already reveal some details about Disney's upcoming projects!

Snow White

One of Disney's greatest classics, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," is up for a live action remake titled "Snow White". The film is set to be released on March 21st, 2025. The leading role will be played by Rachel Zegler, known for her role as Lucy Gray in "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes," as well as her appearance in the 2021 remake of "West Side Story." An official image has already been released.

Actor Peter Dinklage, famous for his role in Game Of Thrones, commented on portraying the dwarves. Disney responded that they do not want to maintain the stereotypical depiction of the dwarves from the animated original. The screenplay for "Snow White" was written by Greta Gerwig, director of the hit movie "Barbie" from 2023.

Mufasa: The Lion King

"The Lion King" received a remake in 2019, but now Disney is taking it further with "Mufasa: The Lion King." The film is set to premiere in American cinemas on December 20, 2024. This will be a prequel focusing on Mufasa's relationship with his brother Scar before Simba takes over as king. In this film, it will probably be about the relationship between Mufasa and his brother Scar, whom we know as the villain from the original film. It is possible that the filmmakers are drawing inspiration from the book "The Lion King - A Tale of Two Brothers", which was released in the same year as the animated film, 1994.

Moana

Even "Moana" is getting a remake, scheduled for release on June 27, 2025 in American theaters. While there isn't much information available yet about this project, one role has already been cast – that of demigod Maui. Dwayne Johnson will reprise his role as Maui's voice actor from the original film.

So, get ready for multiple trips to the cinema in 2024 and 2025! We eagerly await the first trailers for these projects and hope for the best possible outcomes
