Band History

Cattle Decapitation was formed in 1996 and played a mix of technically demanding grindcore and death metal on their early albums. Since the album Monolith Of Inhumanity, significantly more melodic approaches have been evident, but the band's intensity has remained. This change also brought a closer alignment with elements of deathcore. Early on, Cattle Decapitation performed with renowned acts such as Deicide and Krisiun.

Cattle Decapitation is particularly known for their shocking song lyrics. They write about the abuse and consumption of animals and criticize humanity for environmental destruction. The musicians use their macabre lyrics to present their views on animal rights and their enforcement. At times, individual band members were vegan, but the lineup has changed since the band's founding. The musicians' intention resembles a mix of radical animal rights groups like PETA and a negative stance towards human recklessness.
