The self-titled debut album had to be realized by the band within a period of only three months because Joakim could not stay in the USA any longer due to his tourist visa. The work was produced, mixed, and mastered by Will Putney, also known as the producer of works by bands such as The Amity Affliction, Thy Art Is Murder, and The Ghost Inside. Twelve tracks offer the first insight into the musical world of Bad Omens, which at that time could still be well classified as metalcore and included very emotional lyrics from the beginning. Lyrical themes were personal experiences, but also the movie "The Fountain."

The very first track, "Glass Houses", determined the band's name change from CHLDRN to Bad Omens, which was originally supposed to be the title of the song. The production took place at Graphic Nature Audio Studio in Belleville. Previously untitled demo recordings were re-recorded for this work.
