Sound And Style

The true milestones that shaped an entire genre were released by the band between 1992 and 1995. The development towards the Black Metal that we know from Darkthrone today happened with their second album, A Blaze In The Northern Sky. Above all, they infused their music with an unmistakable atmosphere and continued to experiment over the years. To this day, their creative openness extends to Crust, Thrash and Speed Metal, as well as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.

An important factor for their cult status and popularity is primarily that the Norwegian duo does not take themselves too seriously. Nevertheless, they are still considered authorities in the original sense of the word. Drummer Gylve "Fenriz" Nagell, in particular, is one of the most recognizable faces in the scene and is still active in the underground music scene today.
