Jujutsu Kaisen has made it into the Guinness World Records book! The anime even surpassed "One Piece" and "Attack On Titan." Find out how close the competition was here!

It's still very fresh: just days ago, the anime "Jujutsu Kaisen" was entered into the Guinness World Records book. It set the world record for the "most in-demand animated TV show" in the year 2023. However, other series were also up for the title!

Jujutsu Kaisen Surpasses Attack On Titan

The manga source material for Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami has been published since 2018, while the anime, produced by the popular studio MAPPA (Attack On Titan Season 4, Chainsaw Man), received its first season in 2020. Since then, the series' popularity has continued to grow, reaching its peak last year with the release of Season 2. Those who read the manga series know: Despite the intense ending of the Shibuya Arc, there's much more to come for fans. The suspense remains, and so does the series' popularity!

Yet, there were also competitors in the race. Since 2020, the series "Attack On Titan" actually held the world record, and in 2023, the finale of this epic was released. And "One Piece" was a worthy candidate for the position, as the new live-action adaptation on Netflix boosted the series' popularity even more. But this year, that wasn't enough.

The Numbers Behind the Success

The popularity of the different animes is measured by the amount of attention, interaction, demand, and views it gets from viewers. So, streams and video views are counted, as well as social media hashtags, likes, and reposts on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

Gen Z, aged 13 to 22, make up the majority of Jujutsu Kaisen's audience: a whole 71.3 percent. This makes the show have a younger audience than its competitors.

  • Attack On Titan - 64.4 percent Gen Z audience

  • One Piece - 56.7 percent Gen Z audience

In total, the demand for the anime worldwide is even 71.2 times higher as that of an average TV show.

Congratulations to Jujutsu Kaisen and the team behind it, especially the hardworking animators at MAPPA.
