The news that Ashley Green, longtime drummer of Holding Absence, will no longer be part of the band has reached fans via social media. Both Holding Absence and Ashley commented with statements, making it clear: there’s no bad blood, and Ashley will continue to pursue music.
Most recently, the band released the single “Death by a Thousand Cuts” in July, in collaboration with Imminence.
Statements from Holding Absence and Ashley Green
"First, Holding Absence expressed their heartfelt support for Ashley’s next chapter:
Today, it is with a heavy heart that we must announce that Holding Absence and Ashley Green will be parting ways for the foreseeable future.
Importantly, there is no drama or bad blood between us and Ashley. He has been the beating heart of our band for 8 years now, and his soul will always be deeply embedded in this band and its music.
Truthfully, it is not easy to spend so much time touring and working hard in this industry without it taking a toll on the people behind the scenes. After an extreme few years of touring and growing as people, we believe now that it is healthier for all parties to take some time away from each other.
We will always love Ash, and he will always be an important part of our HA family, no matter where our careers take us. We hope you will join us in wishing him all the best as he continues to drum and work in our music industry, and we urge you to keep up to date with his journey via his socials and Patreon account."
Ashley Green fügt hinzu:
“Thank you. Really, all I can say is thank you.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the band from 2015 & who will continue to support the band & myself going forward. A big thank you to all the people in our teams the world over, the A&R people who have so kindly & graciously supported me & have said they will continue to do so in my musical career. The biggest of thank you’s to all the people who have come to shows, bought our records & merch, met us outside shows during load in, after shows in the snow, caught my rouge, flying drumsticks & have been so kind to us. You are the reason I continued on, through everything.
To those people that have told me I inspire your drumming or musical influence at all, is one of the greatest privileges of my life & I hope this message continues to inspire you long after this moment! Lastly, thank you to Lucas, Scott, Ben, James, Feisal, Giorgio, Zac & Thom, without whom, this journey wouldn’t exist.
I do not know what my future now holds, but I thank you for believing in one where we’ll be reunited at a live show again & I promise to hold onto that same hope my friends.”
