Since 2013, the cult series Peaky Blinders has been internationally broadcast. The story, featuring actors such as Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, and Helen McCrory, captivates fans worldwide. The British drama series is set in England during the 1920s and early 1930s and revolves around gangsters, drugs, and power struggles. The name of the series is derived from the gangster gang Peaky Blinders from Birmingham. This gang caused trouble in the city around 1890, even outside of fiction. The name comes from the peaked caps that the members wore at the time. However, the gang consisted only of petty criminals and never reached the power of the gangsters in the series. The real inspiration is the Brummagem Boys, who controlled horse racing bets in Birmingham from 1920 onwards.
