Origin as Action Figure
He-Man was first molded by the toy manufacturer Mattel in
1982 and sold as a 24-centimeter tall
action figure. They were placed on the shelves alongside the then-popular
Star Wars figures. Mattel wanted to jump on the hype and quickly created a new series. Production of this line was discontinued in 1988 and relaunched in 2002. Under the title
Masters of the Universe Classics, the figures were released in a modernized version. They are now considered Mattel's biggest success. The first comics about the figures were printed by
DC Comics, which also produced a crossover with the popular
Superman series. The concept of He-Man has changed over time, but in the 1987 film adaptation, He-Man is one of the last free defenders of Eternia, fighting against the impending rule of the evil Skeletor. Did you know that He-Man's mother was a
