Ghost have always taken both their stage presence and their music seriously, but they’ve also left plenty of room for fun. Over the years, the band has released songs that are unforgettable - whether due to the design of the current Papas, a music video, or a melody that won’t leave your head. And today, we’re highlighting those very songs!

Call Me Little Sunshine
Let’s start with a newer Ghost song, the single "Call Me Little Sunshine" from their 2022 album Impera. The track was Grammy-nominated and became the album’s most popular song, with currently 28 million YouTube views and the highest Spotify streaming numbers of all tracks from Impera.
He Is
"He Is" may not have been a single from their 2015 album Meliora, featuring Papa Emeritus III, but it became just as popular as one. In their home country Sweden, the song even went platinum - no surprise for this atmospheric masterpiece, which transitions from acoustic guitar to epic solos and took Tobias Forge nearly a decade to complete (2007–2015).
Dance Macabre
With "Dance Macabre", Ghost created one of their catchiest anthems on 2018’s Prequelle. It’s still rock, but blended with '80s synth-party vibes, making it irresistibly danceable, and, of course, consistently stuck in your head. The accompanying music video adds a romantic twist to Ghost lore, telling the beginning of a truly unique relationship.
Rats
Another track from Cardinal Copia, whose unforgettable dance moves will be remembered forever. "Rats", from 2018’s Prequelle, is actually about the plague, more specifically, how modern times, with the rise of social media, mirror the Middle Ages…
Cirice
Back to Meliora, because "Cirice" remains one of Ghost’s most powerful songs. This track actually won a Grammy, and as a single, it introduced many new fans to the band, even outside the metal scene. And all that despite its six-minute runtime!
Kiss The Go-Goat
We just can’t ignore 2019’s Seven Inches of Satanic Panic, or the song that was somewhat overshadowed by the hype around "Mary On A Cross". "Kiss The Go-Goat" is a Papa Nihil anthem, brought to life in the music video by Justin Andrews (younger version). What started as a romantic relationship ends tragically here - but at least the EP’s “re-release” gets one final promo push at the end.
Square Hammer
Another strong EP: Popestar (2016) brought us "Square Hammer", arguably Ghost’s most famous track alongside "Mary On A Cross". A final banger before Papa Emeritus III made way for his successor, Cardinal Copia. The line "Are you ready to swear right here, right now, before the devil?" is impossible to forget, and it was a #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts.
Mary On A Cross
Do we even need to introduce "Mary On A Cross"? The fan-favorite track from Seven Inches of Satanic Panic was already beloved, but the TikTok craze, fueled by its use in "Stranger Things" fan edits, catapulted it into the mainstream. The funniest part? The song wasn’t even featured in the show, it just blew up organically thanks to fans.
