After lead singer Gerard Way witnessed how the World Trade Center collapsed, he decided to form a band (later writing the song 'Skylines and Turnstiles' about that experience). Only three months later MCR released their debut record I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. Gerard, his brother Mikey, Frank Iero, Ray Toro and the former drummer Matt Pelissier already began gaining some attention with these songs - However it wasn't until the release of Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge (2004), with singles like 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' and 'Helena', that the Way brothers and co. really caught everyone's attention. Alongside bands like Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy, "My Chem" influenced the style and music taste of a whole generation.
