The History of the Transformers
The action figures were first released in
1984, and their popularity was boosted by
animated series aired on Japanese television. At that time,
transformable robots were not new in Japan, but the American company Hasbro gave them a distinct character, marketed the product effectively, and brought it to the international market. The backstory and animated series were developed by writers from
Marvel Comics. Over time, several generations of Transformers with different focuses emerged. It was a delight for loyal fans when the
2007 film of the same name hit theaters.
Steven Spielberg served as executive producer,
Michael Bay directed,
John Rogers wrote the screenplay for the action-packed film, and
Shia LeBeouf starred in the lead role. Interestingly, Michael Bay was initially not interested in a "toy film," but a visit to Hasbro changed his mind. Film enthusiasts will particularly enjoy this film for its numerous references to other works.
