2023 marks a milestone year for Parkway Drive: 20 years! To celebrate, next year they are launching their very own festival in Dresden. Here's where you can find out when Park Waves takes place, where to get tickets, and who will be performing!
What better way to celebrate 20 years of band history than with your own festival! Next year, Parkway Drive, along with a few other scene bands, will gather in Dresden at the Elbufer. The party, named Park Waves Festival, is set for July 6, 2024, so mark your calendar!
According to Winston McCall, it has always been a dream for Parkway Drive to organize a festival. Now, it’s finally happening!
"Dresden, welcome to PARK WAVES 2024. Our band's journey has been built on growth and visions, so having our own festival was always a goal for us. We've always felt the connection and energy between the band and our fans, and we want to take that to a whole new level. A festival for everyone, where all are welcome, and the vibe is great. We can’t wait to see you all next summer, this is just the beginning..."
With Darker Still, the globally renowned Australian metalcore band released their latest album in 2022, hitting #1 in the Australian album charts for the third time. The past years have seen a succession of strong albums, with Ire in 2015 and the universally praised Reverence in 2018. After so much success (even in the German album charts), a celebration is definitely in order, anniversary or not! It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since their formation in 2003, right? All this time, they've maintained a very stable lineup. Since 2006, no one has left the band, and the guys around frontman Winston McCall know each other very well by now. Maybe that’s their secret to success?
In 2023, they re-released their 2009 DVD "Parkway Drive - The DVD" as a remastered edition. Maybe you already have the film and are watching it again out of nostalgia. Or if you haven’t seen it yet - now would be the perfect time to set up a metalcore movie night!
And here’s the lineup
We’re excited to introduce more amazing acts from the lineup! Alongside Parkway Drive headlining, the Park Waves festival will also feature deathcore group Thy Art Is Murder (with their new vocalist Tyler Miller this year) and death metal band Dying Fetus. If you’re from the metalcore community, Fit For A King is sure to be a highlight for you, as well as ERRA and Alpha Wolf! It all looks suspiciously like there will be mosh pits, crowdsurfing, and lots of headbanging…
The festival takes place at the huge open-air cinema, which also annually hosts the "Filmnächte am Elbufer" festival. Whether day or night, it always provides a spectacular backdrop for performances of all kinds! Especially recommended with loud metal bands on stage.
