Megadeth, the thrash metal icons led by former Metallica guitarist Dave Mustaine, have released an impressive 16 albums to date. Now it seems that the 17th album might soon follow.

In a recent interview, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari revealed that the band is already working on new material and aims to release it in 2025.

“At the moment, everyone is gathering their own riff ideas, and at some point, we’ll put them together and probably record in Nashville. The plan is to finish the next album next year.”

That sounds promising, doesn’t it? Teemu also shared some insights into his collaboration with Dave Mustaine and gave a glimpse into the process of creating new songs:

“Dave likes to work in a riff-based way and wants us to bring riff ideas, not necessarily complete songs. But you bring riffs, and then we listen to them together and pick out the ones that could work well together. And then the songs start to take shape.”

Megadeth Remains On The Cutting Edge

Their last album, The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead! was released in 2022 and was well-received by both fans and critics. So it’s no surprise that expectations are high for the next album. Megadeth has proven in recent years that even after nearly four decades in the business, they still bring fresh and hard-hitting music.

With Teemu Mäntysaari on guitar since 2023, the band has a new ace up their sleeve. His collaboration with Dave Mustaine promises that the next album will hit the mark once again.
